Cornflake Candy

Ingredients and Equipment Needed:

1 cup corn syrup

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup non-fat dry powdered milk

1 cup peanut butter

8 cups cornflakes

Measuring cups

1 medium size saucepan

1 large bowl

Non-stick spray

1 cookie sheet lined with parchment or waxed paper

1 spatula, preferably one that can withstand high heat

How to Make Cornflake Candy:

1.  Pour the sugar into the saucepan. 2.  Measure the corn syrup.  If you have a measuring cup like I am using in the picture, it is easier, but you can do it in a regular measuring cup.

Then pour the corn syrup into the saucepan.  If you are using a regular measuring cup, scrape all of the syrup out and into the saucepan.

3.  Now pour in the powdered milk 4.  Stir the mixture, then cover the pan and slowly bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.

5.  When the mixture boils, take it off the heat and stir in the peanut butter. 6.  Spray the bowl with non-stick spray 7.  Measure the cornflakes and put them in the bowl. 8.  When the peanut butter mixture is ready, pour it over the cornflakes.  Scrape the bowl so that you get all of the mixture.  Stir the mixture into the cornflakes.

9.  Dump the mixture onto the parchment-lined cookie sheet. 10.  Spread the mixture out with the scraper or with your fingers if it isn't too hot. 11.  Let the mixture cool thoroughly. 12.  Now you can break off pieces and put them on serving plates.

Now have your adult helper take your picture with the finished product.  It's fun to have pictures of your accomplishments - especially when they taste this good!
