Just before school started, I invited three of my best friends over for a Cooking and Slumber Party at my Grandma’s house. Here we are in the picture above from left to right: Sarah, Jamie, Me, and Anna. I got to choose my favorite dishes for us to cook. Here is the menu I planned:
Cold Berry Soup
Chicken, Shrimp, and Steak Fondue
Cocktail Sauce, Barbecue Sauce, Salsa
Baked Potatoes with “The Works” Topping
Mixed Vegetables (I didn’t pick this, but Grandma said we needed something green!)
Symphony Bar Fondue with Dippers:
Dirt Cups with Gummy Worms
The food was yummy! We all had a lot of fun, and learned some new cooking skills. I hope you make some of these fun recipes at your house. I think it's a good idea to practice all of the dishes on your family before you invite friends over, so that you are familiar enough with the recipes that you don't make mistakes. It's very important that you have an adult in the kitchen with you at all times while preparing the fondues because you will be using hot oil and a candle. You will be using sharp knives to cut some of the ingredients, too. And of course, make sure you review my Safety and Cleanliness Rules before starting to cook. Click on each recipe for instructions on how to make them.
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know how your dishes turned out. If you can, I'd love to see pictures of your food and of your friends eating it.
