Sweet and Sesame Bacon

This bacon is almost like the recipe in my Alaskan cookbook, Moose Racks, Bear Tracks and Other Alaska Kidsnacks.  There are lots of fun recipes in this book.  It has recipes that are written especially for kids, but they are good enough that the adults want to eat them too.  It is one of my favorite cookbooks.  You can buy it if you go to Alaska, or an adult in your home can order it from Amazon for you.  You might want to put it on your Christmas list.  Just click on the picture to order.  This bacon is really good.  Jake and I like to eat it with Midnight Sun.

Ingredients Needed:

You will also need:

A large baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil

Pot holders to take the hot pan out of the oven

A fork to turn the bacon and also to put it on the serving plate

A serving plate

Paper towels to put on the serving plate to drain the bacon

1 pound bacon

3/4 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons sesame seeds

How to Make Sweet and Sesame Bacon:

1.  Have an adult help you preheat the oven to 350

2.  Lay the strips of bacon on the baking sheet that has been lined with parchment or foil.  Put the pan in the oven and bake the bacon for 15 minutes. 3.  Turn the strips of bacon over with a fork, then sprinkle with the brown sugar and sesame seeds.

4.  Put the bacon back in the oven and bake 10-15 minutes or until the bacon is as crisp as you want it to be.  Use potholders to remove the pan from the oven and using a fork, transfer the bacon to a plate.

Always have an adult help you when you are taking things out of the oven.
