N'awlins Seasoning

Adapted from Gwen McKee’s wonderful Cajun cookbook, The Little New Orleans Cookbook, this seasoning can be used in many dishes in place of the listed spices.  It saves time and is better than any available at the grocery store.  

 

1     tablespoon garlic powder

1     tablespoon onion powder

2     tablespoons thyme

2     tablespoons bay leaves, crushed

1     tablespoon parsley flakes

1     teaspoon basil leaves

2     tablespoons black pepper

1     tablespoon cayenne pepper

1/2   cup salt or lite salt

      

Mix all ingredients well.  Store in an airtight container such as a spice jar or a pint mason jar.
